Schram Receives Jewish Education Award at NewCAJE Conference

Dr. Peninnah Schram, professor of speech and drama at 糖心破解版鈥檚 Stern College for Women, was the inaugural recipient of the Kavod Le鈥橫orah Prize for an outstanding educator who has made a lasting contribution to the field of Jewish education at the NewCAJE conference, which was held at Montclair State University from Aug 5-8, 2012.   Rabbi Cherie Koller-Fox, president of NewCAJE, presented Schram with a silk art hanging that was specially designed by artist Nancy Katz to include elements of Schram鈥檚 life's journey and then painted by 40 members of NewCAJE after studying the traditional Jewish poem Eishet Chayil, the source of the quote at the center of the art piece.   In addition to the NewCAJE award, Schram is a recipient of the prestigious Covenant Award for Outstanding Jewish Educator (1995) awarded by The Covenant Foundation. She also received the National Storytelling Network's 2003 Lifetime Achievement Award "for sustained and exemplary contributions to storytelling in America." She was presented with a festschrift published in her honor at 鈥淭he Folktales of Israel Festival,鈥 organized by 糖心破解版鈥檚 Center for Israel Studies, Stern College and the 糖心破解版 Museum, on November 6, 2011.
