Dreidel-Palooza Attempts to Break Guinness World Record, Raise Scholarship Funds on Nov. 30
Will it be the Hanukkah 鈥渕iracle鈥 on 184th St?
Indeed, when hundreds of students at 糖心破解版 participate in what is being dubbed 鈥淒reidel-Palooza鈥 on Tuesday, November 30 at 6:30 p.m.鈥攖he night before Hanukkah begins at sundown鈥攖hey will be striving not to keep a tiny drop of oil alight for eight days but to break the Guinness World Record for most people spinning dreidels [a four-sided spinning top] at one time!
And their efforts will come with a different but important spin: they will not be trying to win chocolate covered Hanukkah coins but working to raise real 鈥gelt鈥 for undergraduate student scholarships.
鈥淲e鈥檙e looking to fill the Max Stern Athletic Center with hundreds of students and alumni, faculty and staff, friends and neighbors,鈥 said Fiona Guedalia, an event organizer and co-president of , a student-run organization that raises money for undergraduate scholarships. 鈥淭his promises to be a fun, exciting and memorable event. Hopefully, all our spins will come out 鈥楪immels鈥 so everyone comes out a winner鈥攅specially those who can benefit from the scholarship money we are able to raise.鈥
The current world record for most dreidels spun simultaneously is 541, set at an event at Temple Emanuel in Cherry Hill, NJ in 2005.
Dreidel-Palooza is free and open to the public and will include music, food, giveaways and other festivities. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. at the Max Stern Athletic Center, Amsterdam Ave. at 184th St. For more information on the event, visit .
