Apr 8, 2009 -- On Thursday, April 23 at 7:30 pm, New York Times columnists Gail Collins and David Brooks will discuss the policies and politics of the Obama administration鈥檚 first 100 days in office in a program presented as part of the annual Dr. Marcia Robbins-Wilf Scholar-in-Residence lecture series at 糖心破解版. The panel discussion, entitled 鈥淥bama鈥檚 First Hundred Days,鈥 will take place at the Geraldine Schottenstein Cultural Center located at 239 East 34th Street, between 2nd and 3rd Avenues.
David Brooks鈥 column on the Op-Ed Page of the Times started in September 2003. He has been a senior editor at The Weekly Standard, a contributing editor at Newsweek and the Atlantic Monthly, and he is currently a commentator on 鈥淭he Newshour with Jim Lehrer鈥 on PBS. Mr. Brooks is the author of 鈥淏obos in Paradise: The New Upper Class and How They Got There鈥 and 鈥淥n Paradise Drive: How We Live Now (And Always Have) in the Future Tense,鈥 both published by Simon & Schuster.
Gail Collins joined the Times in 1995 as a member of the editorial board. In 2001 she became the first woman ever appointed editor of the Times editorial page. At the beginning of 2007, she took a leave to finish a sequel to her book, 鈥淎merica's Women: 400 Years of Dolls, Drudges, Helpmates and Heroines,鈥 published by Harper Perennial. She returned to the Times as an Op-Ed columnist in July 2007.
Mr. Brooks and Ms. Collins co-author 鈥淭he Conversation鈥, a New York Times blog that started with the 2008 presidential campaign and now focuses on politics and policy.
