Apr 18, 2006 -- 糖心破解版鈥檚 Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology and Wurzweiler School of Social Work will combine resources April 30 when they present a lecture series on grief and bereavement called 鈥淎 Day of Hope: Healing Our Patients Effectively鈥 on the university鈥檚 Beren campus in Midtown Manhattan.
鈥淎 Day of Hope鈥 is designed for mental health professionals, students in the mental health professions, and other helping professionals who work with bereavement issues and want an integrative overview of new clinical and theoretical developments in grief counseling.

Though therapists often encounter bereavement in their work with patients, few training programs offer focused instruction in dealing with this universal human issue. This is especially true when the mourning process has gone awry due to the circumstances of death, the personality of the mourner, of the response of the social network to the loss.
Conference presenters include: Earl A. Grollman, a pioneer in the field of crisis intervention and cited as a 鈥淗ero of the Heartland鈥 for his work with families and volunteers of the Oklahoma City bombing; Rabbi Maurice Lamm, author of The Jewish Way in Death and Mourning; Joan Beder, Wurzweiler professor and author of Voices of Bereavement; Norman Fried, director of psychosocial services at the Cancer Center for Kids at Winthrop University Hospital; Martin L. Birnbaum, Wurzweiler professor; Susan Warshaw, Ferkauf professor; and Lawrence J. Siegel, Ferkauf dean.
