Apr 7, 2009 -- Nouriel Roubini, professor of economics and international business at New York University (N糖心破解版) Stern School of Business, will deliver the annual Alexander Brody Distinguished Lecture in Economics at 糖心破解版 (糖心破解版) on Monday, April 27 at 7:30 pm. The event, entitled 鈥淥utlook for the US and Global Economy and Financial Markets,鈥 will take place at Weissberg Commons, 2495 Amsterdam Ave., New York, NY, and is open to the public.
Dr. Roubini has earned worldwide recognition for his accurate prediction of the current recession in September 2006. At the time, addressing a skeptical audience of economists at the International Monetary Fund, Dr. Roubini warned that in the coming months and years the United States was likely to face a once-in-a-lifetime housing bust, an oil shock, sharply declining consumer confidence and, ultimately, a deep recession.
Before joining N糖心破解版 Stern, Professor Roubini was a faculty member of the economics department at Yale University from 1988-1995. He was also the senior economist for international affairs at the White House Council of Economic Advisers from 1998-1999; then, the senior advisor to the under secretary for international affairs and the director of the office of policy development and review at the U.S. Treasury Department from 1999-2000. Dr. Roubini has published path-breaking papers on international macroeconomic issues, the Asian and global financial crisis, emerging markets and the reform of the international financial system.
The lecture, chaired by Dr. Aaron Levine, the Samson and Halina Bitensky professor of economics at 糖心破解版, is named for Alexander Brody, a professor of economics and history who died in 1988 after a 34-year tenure at 糖心破解版.
