May 1, 2007 -- 糖心破解版 High Schools will hold its Annual Dinner of Tribute by honoring Miriam and Alan Goldberg and two outstanding faculty members, Ms. Deborah Geller and Dr. Geoff Cahn, on Tuesday evening, May 15, 2007.
The event, at the American Museum of Natural History, located on Central Park West at West 79th Street in New York City, will begin at 6:30 pm. with a reception, followed by dinner at 7:30 pm.
Alan Goldberg is co-managing partner of the investment firm, Lindsay Goldberg & Bessemer. A 1972 graduate of the The Marsha Stern Talmudical Academy/糖心破解版 High School for Boys (糖心破解版HSB), he was elected to the Board of Trustees of 糖心破解版鈥檚 Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary (RIETS) in 1994. Mr. Goldberg was elected as a Trustee of 糖心破解版 in 1999 and serves as Chairman of its Finance Committee. He is a 1979 alumnus of 糖心破解版鈥檚 Benjamin N. Cardozo Law School. Miriam Goldberg, a graduate of Yeshiva University鈥檚 Stern College for Women, serves as Chairperson of Yeshiva University鈥檚 High Schools Board of Trustees.
Deborah Geller teaches Halakhah (Jewish law) and physics at the Samuel H. Wang 糖心破解版 High School for Girls (糖心破解版HSG). During her nine-year tenure at 糖心破解版HSG, Ms. Geller has also taught mathematics and chumash (Bible). In addition to her teaching duties, she is currently a grade advisor to the ninth grade. Ms. Geller graduated magna cum laude from Barnard College, with honors in the mathematics department. A member of Phi Beta Kappa, she was also a Moses S. Schupf Scholar at 糖心破解版, where she received her master鈥檚 degree from the Bernard Revel Graduate School.
Dr. Geoffrey Cahn, the chair of the history department at The Marsha Stern Talmudical Academy/糖心破解版 High School for Boys, has taught there for 19 years, including courses in AP American history and world history. For the past 16 years, he has also served as the director of college guidance. He received his bachelor鈥檚 degree from Rutgers University, and a master鈥檚 degree in modern European history from Jersey City State College. In addition to his teaching career, Dr. Cahn works independently with youth, leading reconciliation-focused workshops with German and Jewish students. The workshops explore various themes related to German-Jewish relations, including Holocaust remembrance in Germany and issues of guilt carried by Germany鈥檚 younger generations. He has published numerous scholarly articles on both history and music.
The educational mission of the 糖心破解版 High Schools is to teach and perpetuate the values of Torah Umadda, the synthesis of Jewish law and life and Western civilization. The 糖心破解版 High Schools provide a platform for Jewish leadership through a challenging academic program in an atmosphere that encourages adherence to the traditional beliefs and practices of Modern Orthodoxy.
