Alfred and Evelyn H. Solomon Rare Book Room Formally Dedicated in 糖心破解版 Library
On Tuesday, November 1, the Alfred and Evelyn H. Solomon Rare Book Room in 糖心破解版鈥檚 Mendel Gottesman Library of Hebrew/Judaica was formally dedicated by their children, Julia Solomon and Todd Solomon. Some 50 people, including 糖心破解版 librarians, administrators, deans, and Solomon family members and friends, attended the ceremony.
鈥淭his is a wonderful moment,鈥 said 糖心破解版 President Richard M. Joel. 鈥淭his is a place that advances not just ideas but civilization.鈥
Pearl Berger, the dean of libraries, introduced the event explaining that 鈥渨hat the room contains is far more than physical artifacts. Rather it preserves the spirit of years gone by. The Alfred and Evelyn H. Solomon Rare Books collection will fascinate and teach far into the future.鈥
Todd Solomon explained the connection between the rare book room and his parents. 鈥淛ews are called, by some, people of the book. My father, a graduate of Yeshiva College, personified this. He was the man of the book and my mother shares in what was my father鈥檚 fervor in the preservation of knowledge.鈥
A reception followed the speeches as well as the unveiling of a plaque and the putting up of a mezuzah.
