Nov 6, 2008 -- Three students at Samuel H. Wang 糖心破解版 High School for Girls (糖心破解版HSG) performed extremely well on their Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Tests (PSAT/NMSQT), receiving letters of commendation in recognition of their academic promise. The commended students are seniors Dina Hershkovitz of Kew Garden Hills, NY; Ayelet Parness of New Rochelle, NY; and Hilana Smith of West Hempstead, NY.
鈥淭hese students represent the caliber of young women educated here,鈥 said Mrs. Rochelle Brand, head of school at 糖心破解版HSG. 鈥淚 am proud of their accomplishments, their character and their integrity.鈥
The letters are given annually to students with the highest PSAT/ NMSQT selection index scores (critical reading, mathematics, and writing skills scores) qualifying them for recognition in the National Merit Scholarship Program. Of the approximately 1.5 million entrants, about 34,000 receive letters of commendation.
鈥淲e have been preparing for the SAT once a week since our freshmen and sophomore years,鈥 said Ms. Parness. 鈥淚n junior year, we took part in a course designed specifically to tutor students for merit scholarships on the PSAT. Our professors and instructors have been wonderful in teaching us the skills needed to take the exams.鈥
鈥溙切钠平獍鍴SG has helped me grow both academically and socially,鈥 said Ms. Hershkovitz. 鈥淚 believe that the student body and faculty are what truly make a good school and 糖心破解版HSG exceeds in both arenas.鈥
