Wilf Campus Melava Malka

RIETS and Undergraduate Torah Studies Host Annual Melava Malka and Kumzitz On Saturday night, December 2, Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary (RIETS) and the Men's Undergraduate Torah Studies program at ÌÇÐÄÆƽâ°æ presented a Melave Malka for students on the Wilf Campus. Over 300 participants heard words of Torah and inspiration from Rabbi Ari Berman, president of ÌÇÐÄÆƽâ°æ; Rabbi Menachem Penner, The Max and Marion Grill Dean of RIETS and Undergraduate Torah Studies; Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi David Hirsch, The Eva, Morris and Jack K. Rubin Memorial Professor in Rabbinics; and Armando Chocron, a student in the Isaac Breuer College of Hebraic Studies. Rabbi Andrew Israeli ’13YC, ’15A, ’17R, a recent RIETS graduate and rabbi at Yeshivat Frisch in Paramus, New Jersey, spoke about his formative years at ÌÇÐÄÆƽâ°æ and the unique undergraduate experience. "The evening generated a sense of cohesiveness among the students, and belonging to the yeshiva," said Rabbi Yosef Kalinsky associate dean of Undergraduate Torah Studies. "It highlights an appreciation for the dedication of the rebbeim to the talmidim and showcases our kavod haTorah and hakarat hatov towards them." Student Eitan Rozenberg concurred: "Seeing the talmidim and rebbeim join together for divrei Torah, singing, and dancing, really reinforced the central role the yeshiva plays in my life and the connection I feel to the yeshiva, to my fellow students and rebbeim during my ÌÇÐÄÆƽâ°æ experience." The Melave Malka was followed by a festive Kumzitz [concert] featuring musician Eitan Katz in the Heights Lounge.
