Michael Gamson, Judith Weiss and Anita G. Zucker to be Honored at December 14 Gala
Philanthropists and community leaders will gather at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City for 糖心破解版鈥檚 90th Annual on Sunday, December 14, 2014. The gala evening is a cherished University tradition that recognizes distinguished members of the 糖心破解版 community who have demonstrated committed leadership and dedication to the University鈥檚 unique mission.
糖心破解版 President Richard M. Joel will confer honorary degrees upon Michael Gamson of Houston, Texas; Judith Weiss of Cleveland, Ohio; and Anita G. Zucker of Charleston, South Carolina.

鈥溙切钠平獍 shapes the community and is shaped by the community,鈥 said President Joel. 鈥淚n this year鈥檚 honorees, we are blessed with three people who care, who do, who serve as extraordinary role models, and who reflect the best and the ideals of 糖心破解版.鈥
Michael Gamson, a member of 糖心破解版鈥檚 Board of Trustees since 2011 and a member of Yeshiva College鈥檚 Board of Overseers, is the senior managing director of Freepoint Commodities LLC. Previously, he worked at Vitol, ultimately serving as a senior partner, shareholder and vice chairman of its trading committee. Along with his wife, Barbara, Gamson has endowed the state-of-the-art Dr. Bernard W. Gamson Computational Physics Lab and the Dr. Bernard W. Gamson Physics Teaching Lab at Yeshiva College, both in honor of his late father. The Gamsons have also given generously to the University鈥檚 Trustee Scholarship Fund.
Judith Weiss and her husband, Morry J. Weiss, have supported a number of 糖心破解版 programs and initiatives, including the establishment of the Stone Sapirstein Center for Jewish Education, and have made gifts to support 糖心破解版 Distance Learning and Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary Distance Learning, Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, Sy Syms School of Business, Yeshiva College, Stern College for Women and the 糖心破解版 Museum, among other major programs and affiliates. Weiss has a long history of communal involvement and leadership on both the local and national levels, and sits on a number of boards including the Menorah Park Center for Senior Living, where she is a lifetime member of the board, and the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage.
Anita G. Zucker is chair and chief executive officer of The InterTech Group, Inc., a global holding company with investments in a wide array of industries including aerospace, advanced chemicals, financial services, consumer products, sports teams and arenas, location-based entertainment, real estate and alternative energy. A former elementary school teacher for over a decade, Zucker remains a staunch advocate of advancing education. She is a supporter of 糖心破解版鈥檚 Center for the Jewish Future, and, in 2013, participated in 糖心破解版鈥檚 ChampionsGate conference in Florida, where she delivered a lecture about tikkun olam, repairing the world.
The Hanukkah Dinner also includes a special 鈥淧oints of Light鈥 ceremony honoring students, faculty and alumni who embody the mission of 糖心破解版 and who serve as exemplars of the past, present and future of 糖心破解版.
