While shared trauma impacts the clinician in their personal and professional lives and has been linked to clinician burnout, it can also encourage shared resilience and professional post-traumatic growth.Dr. Mooli Lahad will focus on the contemporary space between the lived experience of individuals undergoing prolonged displacement or evacuation and the long-term efforts of rehabilitation, alongside the role of therapists working within a context of shared traumatic reality. He will address questions such as: What is trauma from which there is no escape? What happens to therapists who inhabit the same space of danger as their clients and undergo similar experiences? What distinguishes a trauma-oriented community from a resilience-oriented community? And what lessons can be drawn from the current experience when looking toward a future that is likely to be complex and challenging?Learning ObjectivesParticipants will be better able to:Understand shared trauma, shared resilience, and professional posttraumatic growth.Identify existential shifts resulting from clinicians' personal and professional exposure to continuous collective trauma.Understand inescapable trauma in prolonged displacement and differentiate trauma-oriented from resilience-oriented communities.Examine the impact of shared traumatic reality on therapists and identify lessons for sustainable practice in future crises.
